[00:00:00] Ladies, welcome to Austin though. How are you doing? You like it? Oh my gosh. I absolutely love Austin. I'm moving here. It's hot. Don't know when, but I am. It is hot. Eventually. It is hot. It's so freaking hot. Well, you guys are from Nova Scotia?
Canada. Ontario. No, Canada. I split my time in Nova Scotia, so that's where I went to school. It's where I have my partner, and like, I'm back and forth. Our family actually has like a cottage there, so. Oh, nice. Yeah. So it's very, very fun, very cool there. Definitely a lot colder than it is here. Yeah. Yeah.
Absolutely. I concur with this message. What are your guys thoughts on Austin so far after having been here for a few days? It's absolutely wild that everyone is like the same as us and in our hometown where we're at, there's, there's an esoteric space, but it's absolutely not nearly as common if you will.
Like I'm for the most part, I'm the black sheep and I'm making a story of what I'm putting in my smoothie and everyone's replying like, what the heck is this lady doing? And this is just the standard. You know, we're at [00:01:00] the HQ, the Heart and Soil HQ yesterday. Buddy's drinking literally five egg yolks, and I'm like, Can I live here?
This is my home. Like, I'm moving in. Like, where, when do I start? You know? I'm like, frick, I forgot about Taloch winds. Okay, that's why I'm here. That's why I'm here. But yeah, the space is awesome. It's wicked. Yeah, or we even, like, people will ask, like, Oh, what do you do? It's like, oh, we have a Taloch based skincare line.
And they're like, oh, that's so awesome. Like, I use Taloch too. At home? That is not a common reaction at all. Like, they don't even know what tallow is? Oh, uh, none. Like, you would be surprised. Like, we go to a lot of, like, farmer's markets and do, like, sampling and whatnot. And, uh, 99 percent of people that walk in there and try our stuff are like, What is even tallow?
And then you have to, like, explain the whole, like, beef rendering. And then it just, like, goes from, like, ABC. And then next thing you know, they're like, Oh, this is a little bit weird that I'm putting beef fat on my skin. And I'm like, It's not weird at all, honey. Just do it. I'm like, babe, this is how humans evolved.
Okay. Like, let's circle back to how we got here. Okay. Be [00:02:00] fat. Do you even want to glow? I'm like, do you even want nice skin? Do you want to beef up your skin? Or do you want to have just like weak skin? Like literally no word of a lie. We're at our markets and on average, we're there say eight hours. There's maybe one or two people that walk by and actually know what tallow is.
Yeah. That's crazy. That's a very small ratio. We're seeing, what, I don't know, on average, maybe four or five hundred people walking by. Oh yeah, for sure. And two of them knows what TAL is. Obviously, it's becoming a lot more popular these days, but, I mean, we've been in the game for a year and a half now, and still pretty slow in Canada, and at least Ontario, where we're at.
And so, it's cool to watch people kind of wake up and be like, Oh, I shouldn't put chemicals on my skin every single day. Yes. Food for thought. Food for your skin. Mm hmm. Babe. Mm hmm. Yeah, I like the words of you the way that you described feeling like the black sheep because Austin really is a trance It's a transplant city and even with both of us Harry was living in Boston.
I was living in New York You're super into this [00:03:00] lifestyle but you you feel lonely in a sense because no one else is really into a lot of the things that we're into and then You come to this city and it feels like home for a lot of people So that's why we were excited because this is our first time meeting in person.
We met virtually Through a good friend, Walker Cole Fulk, who's in this room right now. So shout out Cole for connecting us. Yeah, shout out Cole. My experience using your product for the first time is that Cole and I were at, we're on a boat in Lake Austin. Was it Memorial Weekend? Moral weekend. And he was like, I just such an American day.
Oh my God. We're honored. Yeah. And so he pulled your product out in this really nice silver container and had like good consistency. And he was saying that how he had connected with both of you and it was the best skincare product that he had used her best sunscreen sunscreen product that he had used.
And so we were cooking in the sun all Memorial Day. Texas sun, don't lie, man. And a lot of people got burnt. I was not too crispy at the end of it. I had a nice maple syrupy bronze. So I was like, product is great. And then we got to [00:04:00] connect with both of you. And one of the things that Harry and I talk a lot about is there are so many Tallow based and animal fat skincare companies that have come into the space the last two years, which is amazing, right?
It's a massive shift in the right direction But I think there's just like from your origin story to both of you being twin sisters There's like a really cool uniqueness to your brand And we'd love to just learn a little bit more about both of you the origin story because you're both just chasing it and going After it which is what we love Yeah, I mean that's literally what we're doing but to start on the origin story.
So A little bit of backstory. I grew up always wanting to be a birth worker. This was like my forever goal. This is my passion. This is what I always knew that I wanted to do. And so when I started working as a doula initially, and then now I'm a radical birth keeper in Ontario, it's You know, it's kind of touchy around these words.
I'm not allowed to call myself a midwife because I'm not because midwifery in Canada is very regulated. It's like very intense and not what I believe in whatsoever. So basically supporting these [00:05:00] women over the last few years has been absolutely amazing. I'm literally living my, my passion, my, my heart.
This is my, the work that I want to do that I want to continue to do. This is always, regardless of where Talent Twins goes, this is always something I want to do. All right. I was making these skincare products for my clients. I can use during pregnancy and on their babies as well. That's actually clean.
And even when you go to the wellness store in Canada, a lot of the products are not clean, you know, there's still 30 ingredients. We're like, what's going on? Like this is supposed to be products that we're putting on our, our mothers that are growing our little humans. This is insane to me. And so it was really frustrating.
And so I started making tallow in my kitchen just for my clients. Literally put it on my Instagram story on my little Mads birthwork page and then a handful of people reaching out Like I would love to purchase this like where do we even get there's nowhere else that we can buy talibé skincare and so [00:06:00] Megan had just recently graduated University all things business and we were sitting down watching a movie and I said Meg like we should Should probably you know make a brand Like a Talibay skincare brand and kind of do the whole thing.
And then the next day we bought the domain and pull trigger, made the Instagram, did all the things and it's literally been full throttle from there. And obviously you, again, passion brains. This is the dynamic here, the yin and yang. It's like so awesome that we have both portions of our passions come to play in like such an authentic and sustainable way.
And obviously I'll let you take it away with all, all things business. Yeah. So it was just like that 24 hour idea and the, like doing it the next day, we quite literally grabbed the bowl by the balls and started skincare out of it. Hey, I'm going to need to get you over here and turn your fat into skincare.
So, uh, yeah, just one product led to another. And then we started just mixing things up and then now we have [00:07:00] like 16 skews and obviously gonna start making more. And, uh, we want to start, you know, start marketing towards men and then maybe do like an aftershave. Like that would be cool, you know? Like let's get rid of those ingrown hairs.
No razor burn. Yeah, razor burn sucks. So, we gotta just start switching it up. Starting to differentiate from all the other brands that are popping up. And really trying to put a twist on like our story plus, you know, trying to be different and being authentically us. Who came up with the name? You guys crushed it.
Okay, so, for the Canadian folks, they'll know what Goodness Me is. That's our, like, wellness store, grocery store, and they have like a little hot food section there as well. So Megan and I, we got our bone broth, we got our friggin grass fed chili, we're sitting down, we have some papers out. We're literally writing things down with what works.
And obviously looking up to see if any of the names are taken. Like, I don't know. Fact, there's a bunch of brands that have very cute and very on brand names with like beef fat skin care. [00:08:00] Um, but we had to capitalize on being twins. We had to mention this somewhere and I literally say this verbatim to people that come and meet us at markets.
I'm like, listen, tallow twins are like, Oh my gosh, you guys really twins. We're like, Of course. Yes. Of course. We wouldn't just name ourselves Donald Twins. No reason. Imagine if you weren't twins. Oh my God. So lame. So inauthentic. We'd find out like three years from now. Yeah. It's, it's a lie. We're fraternal twins.
Everybody listening and watching. Okay. We're fraternal twins. Different eggs were fertilized. We're siblings. We're brother and sis We're sister and sister that were born at the same time. Two separate placentas. We're getting into birth work now. Anyway, we're gonna go there. Anyway, so we'll get there eventually But yeah, tallow twins sounds a little bit cheesy, but it's something that we disagreed on I honestly don't know and we were bouncing between tallow twins or twin skin, but that kind of or twin tallow Twin tallow is way too close.
Yeah So that's so american twin skin had like also it was like, you know, some people were like, yeah like foreskin. It's like [00:09:00] no Yeah, it's giving foreskin. Yeah, so then it was like And then it's like, that's also a bit weird to, you know, spin. So then Talo twins just hit the nail. Yeah. And our last name's Tylek and everyone's like, is your last name Talo?
I'm like, Oh my gosh, these people are so unawoke. I think you should legally just both change your names to Talo. It's the only Megan's license plate at home. Yeah. I got, I got a license plate that says Talo twin. Our parents bought it for her. Mine's mad sauce. Mad sauce. I think we need some customized license plates.
Yeah, 100%. I don't know what you guys are doing. I haven't done it yet. Mafia Brett. Do it! Oh my gosh, it's gonna be a thing in Austin. You can just be meat, I'll be milk. Oh my gosh! Please! So you had the idea, you kind of got hit with this spirit of inspiration. And then Meg, when Mads told you about the idea, did you immediately see the validity into it?
Did you overthink it? Or did you I didn't overthink it at all. I didn't even, I didn't think twice. I [00:10:00] full on, I was in a position where I was just finishing school. I was applying to jobs hand over fist. I wasn't even getting interviews. Like it was such a tough time to actually get a job when I finished school.
And I was like feeling really discouraged, but then also coming from like an entrepreneurial family, I was It's also kind of inspired by that to start doing my own thing. So then obviously when she said, Hey, let's, this is a cool idea kind of thing. I was like, sure, let's run it. Like I didn't even, I did not think twice.
It didn't even skip a beat. Like she said the idea and immediately right out of my mouth was yes. Like zero thought process. I just saw blank and I said, let's go. Had you guys kind of thought about that growing up? Just, uh, Hey, it would be so cool if we wanted a business together someday, but not sure what the idea could be.
Forever since day one, our dad, we were speaking to Brett earlier that our dad is like the most entrepreneurial man ever. And he's just always, you [00:11:00] guys need to be doing this. You guys need to be doing this. Giving us all these ideas that we don't give a single frick about, you know, like, no, we don't want to go sell books, you know, like any single thing under the sun.
Like, listen, you guys need to buy like 15 car washes. And I'm like, how do I say this? Never. We're not ever going to do that. Do this guy. He will sell snow to an Eskimo. Seriously. He's out here hustling. Honestly, respect. We've learned so much of what we know and how we, Communicate with others from our family, which is obviously incredible.
Like shout out mom and dad. Um, but yeah, I mean, he's always been pumping ideas at us until we came up with our own that actually we wanted to pursue. And I mean, back to authenticity, to be truly successful in something that I believe to be a conscious leader, you need to be doing it with genuine passion.
And without that, I mean, success is a little bit harder to, to grasp when that's not in. On the cards. [00:12:00] Yeah. Yeah. As you get older, you realize that your parents as a kid, you don't want to listen to them. And then you kind of go in a field that's like adjacent to what your dad is doing or your parents are doing.
You're like, Oh, they actually were teaching me the right thing at a young age too. And that's really cool. And it's cool for them and your relationship grows as you get older. Um, I wanted to ask you just a little bit about home birthing. We've touched on it briefly on the podcast. We had this amazing guest on Veronica Max who's based out of dripping Springs, Texas.
She's had four home births, I think. Yeah. And just the way she was explaining the differences between the home birthing process and conventional birthing. It's so crazy that the conventional model is just pushed on so many people. I'd love to just learn about how has your perspective changed on life and the birthing process with all the work that you've done?
I mean, it's such a big topic. Like I could truly talk to you about this for days straight and not totally cover all the topics, but to Coles notes this basically birth. Like we live how we [00:13:00] birth and we, all the things that we do via birth. It, I think it reflects on all the things that we do in life. I mean, it's literally how you got here and something that I right out of the gates, tell absolutely everyone, every single client that reaches out to me, every single person that I speak to on the streets or in a person, I find a way to talk about birth to everyone.
And I just say like, there's 8 billion people on this planet today. We all got here through birth and then every single person before that also got here through birth. It's not, birth isn't broken. Birth actually works really well. And we, as a society, has, Made it into an incredible business. Birth is a business and it makes a whole lot of money.
And so it's kind of devastating. And we've been kind of coerced to believe that women's bodies don't work, that we need to be afraid of birth, that so many terrible things can go wrong. And I'm not over here preaching that, you know, be [00:14:00] naive and every single thing will go right. But what I am saying is every single person is responsible for their own health.
And for me. That's obviously going to be birthing at home, outside of the system, not having any regulated midwife there. I'll either have a radical birth keeper, traditional birth attendant, or just myself and my husband. And we'll just be hanging out, birthing our babies at home. I mean, I think that's normal.
We've only been birthing in hospitals for less than a hundred years, folks. Like it's not a long time, you know, how long have humans existed for? Yeah, Jesus was born in a manger guys. Like we know this, so yeah. I mean. I believe in birth and it works. But for most people we've been born into the system of just thinking that you need to have your, your birth in a hospital.
So for those people out there who are hearing about like a midwife or doula for the first time, how do you kind of make it seem like less of a big deal? Cause I think there's just so much fear around birth and that's why people feel like they need to have, you know, the [00:15:00] hospital there just in case. Yeah.
Yeah. And that's literally why people do it. You know, like, you know what? Yeah. It's my first time, so I'm just gonna go to the hospital. I'm like, I don't think that that is a very safe way of thinking. It's like, you know what? It's my first time. I'm just gonna go with the flow, go to the hospital. But it's like, let's pause game and actually educate ourselves a little bit about birth before just going with someone else's flow.
If you don't have your own flow, regardless of what we're talking about, I think birth is, you know, can transpire in so many other things in life. Whether you're talking about business or literally Birthing your child. I think you can't go with someone else's flow. You need to know something. And yes, we are Brainwashed to be so fearful of it and you hear these stories like, you know what?
Thank God I was in the hospital because you know XYZ happened. They saved my life They saved my baby's life and then I debrief with these women. I'm like, let's talk about your birth and they're like, well This happened this happened this happened. And so we had to do the emergency c section and everyone was saved.
I'm like, oh You received that emergency c section [00:16:00] because of the 15 interventions that they induced to you from the beginning and, you know, right out of the gate. Some, a lot of the times the first intervention would be is to induce a woman's labor. And so do you guys know what an induction is inducing?
No. Okay. So on average, a woman, no dice, beef organs, we got you, we got you. So basically a woman's gestation, like the time that she will be pregnant is anywhere between 38 and 43 weeks. And so on average, the system has made that a woman's due date, you guys have heard, everyone knows what a due date is. We do know that.
Yes. Which is absolutely ridiculous. As if you can be like, yep, your baby, September 23rd. It's like, says who? My anatomy is not the same as your anatomy. My physiology is not the same as your physiology. So how on earth could we pull this name, or this number, the date, out of a hat? [00:17:00] And say like, this is your baby's due date.
And at this point in time, your body is now not nourishing your baby any time after 40 weeks. So we're gonna book you for an induction, which basically induces a woman's labor. So it's like, your baby didn't signal your body to be born. Your body didn't signal yourself to give birth. And like begin labor, but we're going to make it happen with synthetic hormones and very intrusive cervical exams where we're putting our hands inside of your body to literally open up your cervix.
So things start to happen. It sounds pretty uncomfortable and it sounds pretty, you know, invasive because it absolutely is. It is. And then there's like one in three inductions can end in a C section. So wow. So Meg, are you completely home birth pill as well? All She, it's been, she has found a few placentas in the freezer that I have at home.
So our dogs have eaten a few, you know, um, it never was a thought. I never thought about it ever until she actually started working in the birth [00:18:00] space. Um, but now like hearing how passionate she is about it. And then also hearing about all the horror stories that happened within the hospital. And yes, there are medical emergencies, during a birth process that like may need to be sought out in a hospital.
But I do believe like women should be able to pick and choose and be comfortable in whatever environment that they want to be in. Um, I know she will look at things at more of an extremist point, but I'm like, I, I'm somebody that would just kind of be like, I'm going to choose my own path, but I will, you know, I will take everybody's word for it, but I'm also not going to sit here and force my opinion onto others either.
Like if you want to go to a hospital and get all the drugs and everything pumped into you and your baby cut out of you, go for it. That's you do you boo. But personally for me, I probably wouldn't. I'm not going to sit here and like, you know, I'm not, I'm not gonna, I don't have the passion she does behind that, but I do believe like we should [00:19:00] have our choices and we shouldn't be fear mongered to end up making those decisions on the fly.
And like doctors sit there and tell you your baby's going to die if you don't do this, this or this. And that's literally what's said. So like I've heard chief doctors speak to clients being like, if we don't give your baby this vitamin K shot, they will likely die. And it's like, That's pretty messed up.
This woman is in the depths of labor. Her mind is like in the most theta brainwave state ever. She is in another planet And she is the most vulnerable she will ever be in her life And you're telling her the baby that's inside of her that her baby's gonna die if she doesn't do XYZ that they want her to do i'm like this is a disgusting space.
I no longer support births in hospitals because I just had too many of those experiences And I just I don't believe in it, I mean The hospitals are there when we need them. When there's medical emergencies, we, we have Western medicine and it's there. It's amazing. And it's so useful when it's useful. But birth, I just don't [00:20:00] believe, I just don't know.
Cell in my body believes that birth needs to be in the hospital. I think it's heavy bias respectfully because I've seen so many births. I've seen so many things transpire and I've seen so many of the experiences not go in the woman's favor because of an entire team. That was just scaring the absolute heck out of her the entire time.
But in hindsight as well, the woman that chooses to birth the way she chooses is, you know, claiming the responsibility that she has of how her birth is going to transpire. So, um, I'm, we're all responsible for our health at the end of the day. No one can hold her hand and tell you what to do and take care of you.
You can bring a horse to water, but you can't make the water, or you can't make the horse drink the water. So, I kind of respect that. Relay that to me and birth work as well. Yes. It's funny that you're saying this because we work really closely with this company in Austin called Crowd Health. Um, their founder, Andy's been on the podcast three times, so he's done the hat trick on the podcast.
Wow. Which is really cool. I want a hat trick. So Canadian, you can [00:21:00] make that happen over time. Um, but they're basically a crowdfunded alternative to healthcare insurance. So if all of us are crowd health members, if you have something like, say you break your arm. We get hit with your medical bills, and then we will step in and cover those bills for you.
And they have like a 99. 8 percent success rate on any medical bill that's been submitted through the community. And so there's like a big carnivore crowd. There's like a Bitcoin crowd. A lot of, it's big for libertarians and people that have that sovereignty mindset. But one of the things that Andy was saying is that, When you go to the hospital, you should actually ask for an itemized receipt because 80 percent of the time the invoice is wrong.
And I would imagine that's something, when you're speaking about traditional birthing and these vitamin shots. It makes you wonder how much are you, how much of this is the doctor recommending it so they can juice up that invoice and then just have you pay more revenue to the hospital. Do not tell me that that is not incentivized when this nurse is having a meltdown when you're not taking something.
Like, don't tell me you're going to lose sleep tonight if Susie doesn't get X shot. You know? It's like, [00:22:00] what? Yeah. It's so insane to me and I've literally, I've, I've caused some drama in the birth space at home, which I'm very proud of it. And I've had. regulated midwives direct message me to be like, look, between you and I shout out to you, like kudos to you for not going with the flow and like fighting for these women.
And it was like such an emotional moment for me to receive this. I'm like, Oh my gosh, this is so wild. You know, it's like, you can't fix a system from the inside out. So that's why I'm, you know, going on the outside, planting the seeds for these women. It's like, you do have other options. You can do other things.
There's so many. There's so much more that, that we have to offer other than a system that's absolutely not for mother baby. It is not sovereign whatsoever. And that's literally like the word of the year. Like sovereign health, sovereign birth, sovereign responsibility. Like it's so strong and also like the Teletwins.
I mean, I think that's why, [00:23:00] like we were really bootstrapping this. And I think We're wearing every single hat, like we, I mean, obviously we just recently hired you guys for our Twitter, which has been so cool. Talismans, follow us on Twitter. Follow, follow me. Like, comment, subscribe, we really need followers.
Um, but no, it's been so cool, and it's been so authentic, so sovereign, and it just works, I mean. The fact that we've made it a year and a half. We're in Austin right now on the Meet Mafia podcast. Like, what the heck? Are we cool? You're pretty cool. Like, I'm feeling, I'm feeling a little cool right now. I'll be honest.
So yeah, it's, it's so cool. And I mean, I think the authenticity is what got us here. And I know I keep saying that and I should probably, you know, just leave it there. Have a mic drop moment for the authenticity moment. But yeah, it's so cool and it works. I think what's great is that you guys, like, I see the birthing aspect being a big part of the talent twins brand.
I don't know if you guys feel the same way, but it's like that audience probably like, they probably love what, what you guys are all about. And the fact that you [00:24:00] guys are willing to be different, it's like stands out. Totally. Yeah. I'm definitely not afraid of confrontation. Um, all the midwives in my hometown will concur with this message.
I am like the doula, the birth worker. That's like not. liked because I'm giving the midwives a little bit of a run for their money because I'm making their job from an association that they have been licensed through a little bit more difficult because I am allowing these women to remember, I'm not doing anything.
I'm not, I'm showing up. I'm making bone broth. I'm making snacks. I'm making the vibe really cool, but I'm also letting the woman know that you're in the driver's seat. These people are working for you. This is your, you're birthing your baby. Like, can we Pause game. Let's, let's remember that you're over here doing an incredibly hard task to birth a human.
And not only is it an incredibly hard task and really challenging at times, but it's also the most sacred and beautiful thing ever in my opinion. And I think [00:25:00] a lot of people, if they really allowed themselves to, you know, verse with birth and learn more about it, it's like, it's incredible how you birth your baby.
The connection immediately post birth has such an outstanding. Reflection and the mother baby connection. Breastfeeding, which is, I mean, Roslaw at Regenison. So like, and it's the same with, with the mother's breast milk, you know? And so, I mean, Hey, stop me when it's time to not talk about birth anymore.
Cause you literally will not shut me up. This is a whole, this is a whole episode. Well, I think it just ties into the fact that I think you've both done. The best job possible picking a mission that really bears a lot of weight. I think a lot of founders They're picking opportunities purely because it's like a good venture to maybe have an exit or it's financially lucrative or something but I actually think that there's like a direct correlation between The amount of weight that you're bearing as a founder and the potential opportunity So tell me something more impactful than taking a shot a little [00:26:00] baby that's gonna get skincare products with 30 ingredients and versus using a skincare product that's literally created by God, right?
I don't think there's anything more impactful than that. And I'm sure that's probably something that you both remind yourselves when the going gets tough. Cause you're in the, like, you're in the trenches right now. You're in the first inning when there's all these excuses to give in or does this make sense?
There's a lot of other skincare brands. And I think this whole story is just a reminder of like, this product is so unique to you and it's going to serve such an amazing audience too. Absolutely. Yeah. We've received, um, reviews and testimonials. So there's. Private messages of people just saying like, Thank you.
My baby has suffered with eczema. Or my daughter has had rosacea or whatever. All the things, all things skin ailments. Like rosacea, dermatitis, psoriasis. Like this is like a huge thing that people do not know anything about on how to And then we go to our doctor and they give you a steroid ointment that does nothing for you other than makes you rely on said [00:27:00] ointment and then you go off said ointment and your rosacea has never been worse.
It's a band aid for the symptom and that's definitely not radical health. So, yeah, for us to be able to offer something for these people that have such incredible experiences with it. Like, there's been many moments where we're reading testimonials and we're like, Tears of joy, like, oh my, we're like offering this to our community for people to have something Extremely affordable extremely healthy.
You can literally eat it. Don't that's like, you know Just use it on your skin. You can't you actually can though. You literally could eat it. So Yeah, it's awesome I'm kind of going back to what you said about how we could we spin our brand with like the whole birth Work and what not which what she does Um, it is a big part of our selling points when we are talking one on one with a customer, we're like, you know, Madison does this in birth and this is how we actually started.
This is our product. Happy baby. It [00:28:00] was our first one that we ever made. And we always like go back to bringing it to the point where our skin is our biggest organ. It's, it's the fact, and whatever we put on our skin is absorbed. And then next thing you know, it impacts our whole entire health. And it doesn't matter if you're just going to keep on putting the chemicals in it.
It doesn't matter what you're putting in your body, but you just got to step away from all those chemicals that people are just continuously eating and putting on their skin every single day over and over again. Yeah. Let's talk about that. So what are most people putting on their skin right now and why is it actually bad?
Like obviously there's a ton of, yeah, obviously there's a ton of like, Cosmetic products out there that are just loaded with parabens and absolutely all the rest But what do you guys see like as the opportunity within the industry like? There's just so many toxins that I'm sure you guys are like this.
Oh my gosh. I can do it all it's insane like there's literally between 30 and 60 ingredients [00:29:00] and I don't know for a lot of like name drop brands, but like your regular Aveeno cream or, you know, whatever lotion that you're buying at your local drugstore or whatever. Um, it's insane. Like it's absolutely insane.
The amount of chemicals and take one ingredient, like just pick one, throw a dart. And it's probably really small. Pick one ingredient. On your skincare that you have at home, your generic skincare and look it up and read it and it's insane. And I'm so confident about this. Cause it's like almost all of them have the same.
Like risks involved with each ingredient going on your skin. And again, like this is things that we're putting directly on our skin that's absorbed right away. Like we were talking about it earlier. You put beef out on your skin. Everyone's like, Oh, I'm so afraid it's going to be oily or greasy or buttery.
And it's like, give it five, your skin drinks it up. And so now we're thinking about. Putting our generic skin care on our skin and the same thing's happening. And so that's a little bit scary and causes a [00:30:00] little bit of issues with everything. Yeah, endocrine disruptors, especially for women. I mean, men absolutely as well, but especially for women, our fertility, absolutely everything.
Our hormones are 1000 percent affected by what we're using on our skin. Obviously what we're putting in our body, but I think we need to make that one conversation. Yeah. What you put in your body or what you put on top of your body, it's the exact same. I don't know why there's ever been a differentiation because it's the same.
And one of the main ingredients in a lot of like generic skincare brands is petroleum jelly. Well that's a byproduct of the oil industry. Like are you kidding? Yeah. Like why are we putting that on our skin? Why is that like the main ingredient in lip gloss? Like we're that, we literally lick it off our lips.
Yeah. Like, come on. Yeah. The average human ingests 3. 7 grams of chemicals just through your lip balm or chapstick every single year. Wow. That's a lot. And that's just lip balm and chapstick. Yeah. So imagine everything else. That doesn't include like girls putting on like mascara or like their cover up or anything like that.
Like, [00:31:00] that's completely just straight up lip balm or chapstick, whatever you're putting on there. Yeah. Yeah. I think you, the mental model that you both mentioned is so powerful around the fact that The way that you wouldn't want to eat something that has 15 ingredients in like a bag or a box or something like that.
You're opting for single ingredient foods. Your skin is literally doing the same thing. So why are you wearing this like skin care product or using soap that has 20 plus ingredients? It's like you go to CVS and it's like, Oh, natural tea tree oil soap. And then the tea tree oil is like ingredient number 27.
Yeah. No kidding. Funny how that works, eh? Tallow is numero uno on our ingredient list. On average, our products range like between 70 and 80 percent tallow. Yeah. And so, eat it. Well, don't. Don't do it. Okay. Don't actually do it. But use it on your skin. And, yeah. It's literally food for your skin. Mm. Yeah. Yeah.
What do people need to know about skin health in general? Just like, how would you guys approach? Is it more [00:32:00] dietary? Is it more what you're putting on your skin? Just like routine. All of the above. Like a lot of people will say, you know, it's like, you know what? I have chronic eczema and I'm not over here as a saleswoman be like, oh my God, you need to try our happy baby.
It's so good for eczema. First things first. I'm like, well topically to to help you to nourish your skin a let's talk about skin. Probably remove whatever you're using now the steroid ointment that your doctor gave you whatever you're using from your drugstore use this tallow, but Let's look at what's going inside your body your gut's microbiome's health reflects in your skin's microbiome's health So, you know, they're they're two in one takes two to tango and that's literally your gut in your skin And so first things first, I always tell people like if you're not already taking a probiotic or just eating probiotics There's so many yummy foods That has so many probiotics, like pickles, guys.
Just eat pickles every single day, or sauerkraut, kombucha, kimchi, all the things, kefir, however you say it. Everyone says it different. Kiefer, [00:33:00] kefir, keffer. kefir. I've been saying that and it feels good for me. Yeah, I'm going to keep riding as long as you're confident. No one cares. You know, you just sell, you say it quick and, uh, it's good.
No, for sure. Gut health, numero uno, then obviously everything else that you're putting in your body, single ingredient foods. I mean, recently we've pretty much been on a carnivore diet for the most part. I mean, listen, we're European gals. We love pierogies. We're Polish. So we do have some carbs mixed in there every now and again.
We're not completely carnivore, but for the most part, I mean, my skin's never been better. My health's never been better, better. Drinking raw milk had a huge influence on my skin, which honestly, I think it was just healing my gut, which then my skin has healed. So yeah, it's incredible. Well, we're really glad that you both decided to make a skin, uh, a sunscreen product too.
And I know I was talking about Cole and I using it on the boat, but I think there is this [00:34:00] weird misconception, like if I just don't eat seed oils, I literally won't burn. And there's people with like really pale Irish skin that are going to, uh, Some beach down south and getting fried. Like you definitely Greg's a good example.
Like if he stops eating seed oils, I definitely believe that he won't burn as much in the reddish hue to his skin won't be as pronounced, but you do need some type of sunscreen. So what ingredients do you guys put into that sunscreen? Because like it, it applied really nice and I was like, I'm a little bit protected cause I was in the sun for like 10 hours, but I really didn't burn at all.
It's that zinc. The, the non, non nano zinc is just, uh, it, it's beneficial in always. You can eat it, you can put it on your skin. It creates an amazing protective barrier. Mm-hmm, . And then also coconut oil has natural SPF to it as well. Um, and then the tah itself, creating the protective barrier. Again, keeping all the environmental health, um, housing things, free radicals, things, free radicals out of your pores and all of that.[00:35:00]
Um, and then. you know, just like the hobo oil, keeping that consistency, making it more pliable to massage into your skin. And then beeswax to create the water repellent and also give it that even like thicker barrier on your skin. Like it's just, it's all about the application and then obviously what you're doing in the sun.
And you could literally eat that one too. So I could have just taken a spoon out. It would like not be that yummy, but I mean you literally could. And so that one's really, really wicked for that. And like, especially, People on that note, bringing it back to eliminating seed oils and you don't burn. It's like the end of the day, evolutionary wise, like we have the color of skin from where we, you know, thrived and where we came from.
Obviously, like we're European, we have a little bit of everything. So we do have a little bit of a tan situation happening right now. But, um, at the day, if we're white skinned people outside, you're gonna burn after a little while, like, regardless of how clean, how [00:36:00] carnivore, how anti seed oil you are, you're going to burn if you're in the sun for a consistent period of time.
Like, we're not over here saying that that's not true, and for the people that are out in the sun, you're, you know, running friggin marathons, you're outside for a consistent period of time, or you're just like, I don't know. Whatever, whatever you're doing outside springs, you're at Barton Springs and you know, you're in the water, obviously all, all the UV rays are reflecting everywhere.
You freaking apply some sunproof to your hotspots. We just say, because it comes in a little two ounce 10. So we're not over here applying to our whole body. And that was never the plan with our sunscreen. So like we're talking hotspots, like your nose, your cheek, your forehead, chest, shoulders, where we normally get the most sun.
Um, and yeah, that's about it on that. No. Yeah, it's so funny to me that I feel like this question of like is the sun bad for me like has popped I'm, like gosh, I feel like twitter. It's all that question is Oh, yeah, everybody. Yeah, it's just [00:37:00] it's like okay. The sun is like Part of this whole system of creating life and it's like powers for you.
Yeah. And now all of a sudden we're afraid of it. Yeah. And you're just dumbing down the whole nuance of the conversation just by looking for a good, bad answer. And it's like, no, it's like, it's going to rock your world if you're out in it for 12 hours. But if you get some. Shade and put on like the right things.
Your skin will be okay. I mean, we need it for our circadian rhythm to work, to let her body bodies know what time it is. Megan jokes with me every single morning she goes, Madison, I'm going to go outside and let my body know what time it is. And I'm like, Oh my gosh, she's just making fun of me because I'm always doing this protocol.
Absolutely. It's so important. And it's like, where's a place that they have like light or darkness for it's like Iceland and where, yeah, listen, I'm not the geography, passion brands. Okay. Anyway, these people, it's so important, but these people have like such issues with their health a lot of the [00:38:00] times because they're not seeing the sun for said period of times or even the places that are seeing the sun 24 hours a day.
It's like, it's so important to have the balance and incorporating sun into your wellness regime. Is so important. I guess you guys in Canada though, like doesn't the sun has to be like in the winter. What do you guys get? No. Yeah. What I do is I just go on surf trips every single year and that's or I can move to Austin.
So I'm kind of really thinking about that. Yeah. I think it gets dark at like what? Three 30 in December, you know, like that's hard. It's depression. It's really brutal. It is. It is brutal and I'm not a fan and lately there's not even that much snow in Ontario. I mean, when we were kids, I feel like every day after school, we're going snowmobiling, doing all the things outside.
But these days, it's like, maybe, maybe we have a good snowfall and like we can go to the local hill, not a mountain in [00:39:00] Ontario. Um, and snowboard for the weekend, but that's about it. So it's not even, it's not even fun to be there in the winter anymore. It's all the chemtrails. It's the chemtrails, man. It is literally the chemtrails.
People think I'm absolutely schizophrenic when I say that. I'm like, listen, you do you. How's your friggin whatever you're eating? Probably not good. How's your Aveeno? Okay? Put B fat on your skin. Then we can talk. It just solves everything. It does, respectfully. I think Harry has a really good question though.
Just the nature of our questions now around like, is the sun bad for me? Is home birthing dangerous? Is meat bad for me? Is raw milk bad for me? And these like, when you subscribe to this lifestyle of just holistic living, like you both dedicated your business to, it's basically understanding that we actually had things figured out hundreds of years ago, which is very contrary to technology, where technology is like, we're just constantly pushing, pushing the pace and getting better as we go along in years.
But natural living is like, No, God actually had the answer since like the inception of humanity and we've just reversed that like you were saying with home [00:40:00] birthing We were you know, how many billions of people were burned through the home birthing model up until 50 years ago? Yeah How many were people how many people were drinking raw milk and getting sunlight exposure and red?
Consuming red meat up until 50 to 100 years ago. We started demon a demonizing saturated fat and like the metabolic health statistics Just reflect that but I think enough people Not enough people are just looking at the problem very simply and being like we have to kind of Revert back to this holistic lifestyle.
Absolutely. Like why try to fix something? That's absolutely not broken and Us and a lot of the esoteric brands these days are really emphasizing you guys as well Like i'm sure you guys have this written down somewhere on your packaging or on your website Ancestral inspired wisdom. Yes Period. You guys have that on something probably.
We always just say like ancient nutrition meets modern branding. Yeah, exactly. And so same, same, but different. And that's it. Exactly. We've been doing it for all these years. Again, 8 billion people today, all the people that came before us. [00:41:00] Okay. How do you think we got here? We didn't evolve because pasteurized milk was fricking the thing to do.
Like, no, we started doing that because it was making money. We started birthing in hospitals because it was making money. We started putting a gazillion ingredients into skincare because it was making money. Health, okay, for us, health sells. But from the greater scheme of things, the paradigm, health does not sell.
And that's why I, my perspective of why I believe our system is so frickin broken and the paradigm is absolutely on one right now. Do you guys think, like in my opinion, the shift is happening? It's happening. Like the tide is coming back in to where people used to just be healthy and they didn't need to the pandemic was the catalyst there.
100%. Everyone's like, if you don't get this shot Everyone dead. You dead, you dead, everyone's dead. That's like The winter of Weird, because that's actually not True at all. Yeah. To your point, people used to not have to try to be healthy. Yeah, you were just healthy. You were eating [00:42:00] cheeseburgers cooked in tallow, you were wearing cotton and wool on your skin.
Totally. Now you have to like, literally go out of your way to be healthy. Yeah. Like everyone grew up with the friends and we were probably the friends, so it's like, oh they're like a health nut or like they care a ton about this. It's like I'm normal. Like don't name it. Just trying to like, You're the weirdo.
maneuver through this weird world where like everything is like, Somewhat toxic. Yeah, no, for real. Like everything's making us sick. Unfortunately, frigging 5g, all these things, EMFs everywhere at left, right, and center. It's like, you know, I'm going to stick the magnet, the magnet in the back of my phone to hopefully emits whatever EMFs that my phone's giving me.
And yeah, at the end of the day, like these lights are probably not ideal. They're definitely screwing our circadian rhythm a bit, all the things in moderation. So what I'm trying to do without making myself sick, cause I've definitely been there at a point in my life where I was like. So holistic mode, so health mode that it was not even enjoyable because you're trying to beat every single thing and try to be the best and healthiest person you can be.
You need to work out [00:43:00] said days of week. You need to do this type of fitness and not eat these things and whatever. And obviously that's also not healthy because our mind is absolutely foundational for our health. And this is another example that I literally use with my, My clients sleep with birthwork or just talking to anyone me just being a weirdo trying to talk depth with people It's like you think of eating a lemon in your mouth waters.
I Think about it like it happens right away So one thought that we have immediately seconds after you have a physiological response And so if you're all pro health and you're like, Oh my gosh, like all these things, you know, there's some, actually, no, these are, these are really good, but not a good example.
But you know, this clothing has something in it and it's not, you know, it's not doing whatever justice and whatever department that I'm referring to. It's like, that's also not healthy at all. Like now I'm creating more cortisol in my body than I would [00:44:00] just to be going with the flow and enjoying myself and doing what I can, where I can.
Taking responsibility for my health, but also not making myself sick about it. It comes down to like controlling the controllables. Yes. That's where she lacks, because she's a control freak. And, but I am the free bird, and she's like, let's get everything tight knit. But then she ends up counter, like she, she ends up taking like ten steps forward, but then like she'll take so many steps back because she starts like, Just put this past tense.
I'm so much better. These are better. These days. This is where we start to psychoanalyze the twins. Keep going. Keep it rolling. No, but she she'll definitely overanalyze everything to the point where it makes her sick. And I'm just going to be like, you know what? Quit caring. For one second, just take a breath and like, let's just get it done.
Yeah. Like you can eat some seed oils one day if you have to. And I do, you know, [00:45:00] respectfully, the odd time you're in a pinch, you're out for dinner with your friends, you're not at a seed oil free restaurant because you're in Toronto and it's not nearly as cool as Austin. You're going to get into that situation.
You know, the fries were not cooked in beef tallow. Yes. Well, I would imagine you probably have clients or mothers that have young families and like sometimes they're in a pinch for dinner or their kids want like fast food or something like that. And it's like, you know what? They've built up so much resilience through doing the right repetitions for a long time that like They can let their kid have that meal every once in a while and then you just kind of enjoy it and then you just go back to your routine.
That's like the soapbox that Harry and I had been on for a long time is what you said, Meg, that perfection is literally impossible. We could have like the EMF blocking cases, whatever. There's 5G all around us. There's only so much perfection we can get. Just like enjoy the moment, cook really good meals, take care of yourself, get sunlight exposure.
You're not going to be perfect. And that's actually kind of a beautiful thing. It's okay. It is okay. And we're over here just like building our constitution vitality. So we can do those things without worrying about it. And [00:46:00] yeah, the shift in the last few years has been absolutely transformational for me.
Yeah. Caring a little less about every single detail. It feels a lot better. I'm definitely. I'm cruising a lot easier these days. Feels better. And, uh, yeah. And now when Megan goes out and drinks 24 beers, I just, I just pack her with activated charcoal before she goes to bed. And then we're laughing in the morning.
Can you put them down? I can put him down. I'm not gonna sit here and deny it, but I can put him down. Megan can, like, respectfully out drink a lot of men and probably beat them in an arm wrestle. It's cause you're that, you have that much resilience. Yeah, and honestly. Constitution? Yeah. Hey, if it wasn't for her getting that, getting that raw milk every Friday, I don't know where I'd be.
She's not gonna go out of her way to get the raw milk. But I am, and I force it into her. She's like, Madison, you know, I don't know if I really like all the raw eggs. I'm like, drink it. I don't care. Harry is the raw milk plug in Austin. You really, you really got a lot of people on raw milk. Well, [00:47:00] we were the same.
Then they're the same, but maybe I don't know. All of us. Yeah. Good team. Um, I was going to say to your point, Brett, there's something about when you're getting like so fixated on health. I think what all four of us have done, which is place that passion into building in the health space and start to actually contribute to the solution.
Like, yes, you can go fully neurotic on all these health topics, but if you're not, um, Like I feel like a lot of people do that and then don't really provide solutions. They tell all their friends and families and then they're not really offering anything that's really actionable. like, okay, just replace this skincare product with what you're using now.
This will be a great first step. And then next thing you know, they're eating grass fed, grass finished beef. They're eating or drinking raw milk. You know, they're doing all the things and they start feeling better. It's like, you need to find those windows of opportunity to like, one. Building the health space.
But then also like these people around you want to like be a part of it, but they just don't know where to start. So I think like actually contributing gives people somewhere it's like, okay, like, you [00:48:00] know, my friends Breton here, they started a business. I'm going to go buy some protein powder that's beef based.
And like, this will be a start for me. I just think there's nothing we can do outside of just trying to like create in the space. Absolutely. That you literally said it so well, and that's exactly. what we're trying to do, like just offering something to our community that is an easy swap. You know, you buy skincare every few months, depending on how avid you're using it.
And it's an easy swap. And especially with our product specifically, it's like, you're replacing a six step skincare routine, put B fat on your skin. It's like full of fat, soluble vitamins, AED and K, which all our other. Like generic skincare. It's like, has the synthetic version of all the things when it's naturally occurring in beef fat.
And it feels so good. It feels amazing. It's so healing for your skin and all of these naturally occurring, incredible regenerating nutrients are in this beef fat antibacterial to antimicrobial, and it's biogenetically [00:49:00] identical to the oils that our skin naturally produces, which makes it really compatible with our skin, which is why it has like that extra incredible effect of.
like melting into your skin because the particles are so small and compatible with our, um, the oils that our skin naturally produces. The, what's it called again? The sebum. The sebum. Oh my gosh. Thank you, Meg. Thank you, Meg. Thank you, Meg. Brain passion. Um, but yeah, it's really cool. And the Latin word for tallow is sebum.
Like, Should we just end the podcast? That's literally it. Like I got it. I'm getting out of here. I'm going to go eat a towel of fries somewhere. So you got to have a quiz for you both before you end the podcast, by the way. We're so competitive.
This is unscripted. Do you want me to roll right into it right now? Yeah. Yeah. Let's do it live. So you guys said you have 16 skews, right? Yeah. Can you name all 16 live on the podcast right now? I probably could. I think. Could you? Yeah. Okay. I . [00:50:00] Heart and soil did. Remember when? Heart and soil. Yeah. So great.
All you alternate. Are we alternate you guys? You guys can Individual. Oh yeah. . Yeah. This is gonna be heart. Just Google search. I'm sorry, what do I, all right, hold on. Yeah. How do we go about this? Do you just ask me and then ask Megan do at the same time, you guys back and forth we're on the same team? No, you're on the same team.
I think that's the same team. This is literally easy. Okay. You do, we have 16 on the button. Are we sure about this? Let me say one, two, three, four, five. Alright, one rule is you guys can't communicate. You can only say the names of the products. Dude, you're talking to twins. We can telepathically communicate.
Is that true? Yes. Ask us a question. Any question. Will you, um. Hmm, . I see we've just been asking you questions this whole time. I know. Like, what do you mean? Like I ran outta questions like we're on a podcast, right? We're out. We're on your podcast. Well, I actually have all my questions written down here.
Yeah. You're like, and I'm out. I'm out. I'm fresh outta [00:51:00] questions. All right. So I see six on the website. That might be in stock. Potentially. No. All will be on there. I see six. Listen guys, we made the website. We had help from friends. I don't know how user friendly it is. Please give us feedback. I think it looks great on it.
I know. Yeah, no BS. The most pregnant woman picture. She's so pregnant in this picture. She might be having quintuplets. It was Nolan or was it you? It was either you or Nolan that said, Oh, was she doubling up? That was Nolan. I'm like, dude, you're literally speaking to twins. Alright. That was hilarious.
Should we start? Let's do it. Alright. We're doing it live. Alright. Sixteen, right? Mm hmm. Okay. Happy baby. For the face, two ounce and four ounce. I don't know if those can, if you want to keep, go, like, size wise. Body butter, summer solstice. In the two ounce and four ounce. In two ounce and four ounce. And then the limoncello, two ounce, four ounce.
Mm hmm. Now [00:52:00] we have a raw sugar scrub. Okay.
Charcoal honey cleansing bum. Mm-Hmm. sounds amazing. Now we have our gua. Is that how you say it? Yeah. For a while I was Isha and that's not it. Oh, I've never even heard of that word. What is gua? Yeah, gua is like a, like a skin sculpting thing. It's really good for like fascial massage in your face. You kinda like roll on.
Yeah, kind of. Ours is good for lymph, uh, lymphatic drainage. Yeah, lymphatic drainage, all the things. Okay. Dry brush, honeydew, face mist. Honeydew, morning dew. I always call it honeydew. Always thinking about melons. It's not like Kahlil Rafati. I know. Yeah, we gotta name drop him there. We got the mint chip.
Keep your head out of the cover. The mint chip y lip balm. Mint chip y lip balm. We have a honey lips lip. I lost count with my hands. Wait, what was the last one you said? Honey. Mint chip and honey lips. Those are both lip balms. That was 16. Really? I feel like we have more. I got 16. Oh my god, Cole's cheating right now and giving us one, but [00:53:00] primal essence.
Tallow soap. Oh my gosh, it is luxurious. 17, and that's our favorite number. We were born on the 17th, October 17th. You both literally nailed that. With a little help from Cole. Yeah. Oh, we actually didn't even name the dry brush. Yeah, I did. Yeah, I did. Washa? Yeah, the washa. Who's the formulator between the two of you guys?
That, it's, it's definitely Probably me. Well, we kind of work together. We work together on it. It's all me. I did the soap. It's actually definitely me. No, it's us. It's teammate. That's teamwork there. Teammate, roommate, business partner, CMO. I love it. The yin and the yang. If you had to, if both of you had to pick like, three products that you love and use the most, what would that look like?
For the face, 1000%. I'm literally locked on an island. I can bring one thing, I'm bringing it for the face. Okay. Literally, shit saves lives. You just cursed. Cut it [00:54:00] out. So that one, honey lips, lip balm, my absolute favorite. And then, oh my gosh, can I pick four? Yes. Okay. Charcoal honey cleansing balm. This one's incredible.
This is one of our newest SKUs. It has. Charcoal, activated charcoal, raw honey, tallow and olive oil. I'm not even kidding. I ate some of this the other day because I couldn't find my charcoal supplement and I needed charcoal. I had one apparel smith. So I was like, I need a detox. And so I literally took a big scoop and ate it.
It was like delicious. Wow. So yeah, pro tip. Um, and then the last one is the morning dew face mist, which is also new. It feels really good. It's our only product that doesn't have tallow in it, but it's really good. Works well. And Meg, same thing here. The Primal Essence Soap, that one's my go to, plus like, you know, I use it as a face wash pretty well.
I use it like full body and as a shampoo bar. Um, and then for the face, obviously, go to moisturizer also. And you know what, I'm gonna say 4 2 because I love our Sun Proof, [00:55:00] and then I'm a midship girl. She loves it. Like that was, that formula was all of these. Did she just say five products? We both failed the mission.
Sorry. We're like, we're gonna take your question and change it. No, no, the soap, the face. Sunproof and the mint chip. That's four. Okay. Can you guys make a healthy deodorant that actually like works? I just smell like an onion when I work. We literally chatted with Dean from heart and soil for like 20 minutes about this.
And he said that he puts the fur, the face on his armpits or no, he puts the happy baby on his armpits, which I've done that before. Like not just like another top. Sorry guys, but another talk. Oh, should we go? We're all friends. We're all on the same team and I'm so glad that there's so many brands out here, like offering this incredibly valuable information that beef fat is king or queen, if you will.
And, uh, yeah. So shout out to all the talent brands, obviously, because we're all out here making magic. Um, but yeah, anyway, Dean was saying that he puts the happy baby on his armpits and he [00:56:00] says it was working really well. And I'm like, interesting brother. Can you put that in a review? Rather like reviews are really valuable as you know, recording this.
Yeah. Okay. So I actually gave my phone to him and asked him to make a testimonial. We're literally sitting in his office. He's like, I don't know if I really like those. I'm like, you just said it three times. So perfectly. I'm like, can you just record that? He overthinks his public speaking. So he does. And I got the video.
He's so good at it. And he has rosacea, which is like literally if anyone says that they have either a eczema Rosacea, dermatitis, psoriasis. I'm like, please, I will literally, and I have, I've given so many products for free at markets that people are really shy of trying it. I'm like, I know it's going to work for you.
How about I just give this to you and I know you're going to come back and I know you're going to be a forever customer cause I know it's going to work well and they do and they have, and we've received incredible feedback and messages. Like, honestly, I cannot believe this. I was so timid and worried of trying this product, any product because nothing works.
I'm like, dude, it's not us. [00:57:00] We didn't invent Tallow. Tallow's been around for a gazillion years. Literally Egyptians were using it. So we're just bringing it back. We're literally not that smart. And I literally say this all the time. Shout out Cleopatra. Speak for yourself, Meg. Yeah, literally. You should make a SKU called Cleopatra.
We should. Firing all cylinders there. All right, ladies. Favorite story since founding the brand. What's been a highlight for you guys? Oh, I just had one come to my head. Okay, go. You first. It's for myself, . Um, I was at a market, not with a friend, and I had, well, she was like, Madison's step in. She's been our go-to girl.
So whenever I go to a birth, we have a backup TA twin. Yes, she triplet. We love her. She got, she actually got, yeah, she got her Imagine one as well. Sorry. Does she look like you? Not at all. Not whatsoever. Not well casted? No, not well casted. Low budget casting. Yeah, sorry. We went to high school together, but anyways, um, we were at a [00:58:00] market and there was a guy that was like shopping with his girlfriend and he was asking about our sunproof.
And he was annoying the absolute life out of me. I'm like, I wanted to tell him to just walk away. But then it came to a point, he goes, does this sunscreen really work? And I'm like, yes. And he goes, no, but seriously, and I'm like, buddy, I wouldn't be selling things that if, uh, if that didn't work. And then he goes, well, you know, like people on the internet just like make a gimmick of things, right?
And I'm like, I just straight up, I forgot what I said to him, but my friend looked over at me. She goes, You're honestly terrible at talking to people. And she's like, this is why we need Madison on this team, okay? And I was just like, I full on was just like, you know what? I, I was going to crawl over this table and I was going to strangle this guy.
But have you ever been in a rear naked joke? And he was just like dumbfounded. And then he just like carried on with his day. And I'm like, I just, some people, some people's kids, man. Like they just need to keep on walking and that was just [00:59:00] like that guy just stuck with me. I'm like, man That was supposed to be your favorite story.
That's your favorite. Yeah, that's my favorite story Been like traumatizing for you I have so many incredible stories because it just drove me nuts that day that he was like No, but seriously, no, but seriously. And I'm like, no, but seriously, kick rocks. Like what else You should have just given him some for free and just come back to me if you think it's a gimmick.
I couldn't. I just, this guy was just getting under my skin. Megan was a little below the line there. I can't believe that's your favorite memory. I can't, I'm also like, Meg, we're literally on a frigging podcast and you're asking me questions. Your favorite memory to say that one time you almost got in a fight with someone else.
You have no idea how many men that I've beaten arm wrestles, man. Try the sun proof or get out of here. And then Matt's your memory favorite. My memory favorite. Well, what's the one time where I just totally mixed the sentences up? Was it with Andy or someone else? He's going to keep rolling. Honestly. And you honestly, yeah, it was perfect.
Anyway, my memory favorite would have [01:00:00] to be. I have so many and they're all actually really positive. Unlike Megan's, um, honestly, one was us coming to Austin in May of this year, which was like, how many months ago was this? Like four or five months ago now. And, uh, connecting with all these women founders at e comm sweetie.
I was invited by one of my friends, like one of my really, really lifelong friends, Maddie St. Amand at district media marketing. They're literally the best people ever. They've taught us. So much of all things e com, which is, you know, coming from a photographer and a birth worker. I literally have no fricking clue what I'm doing.
Um, so it's been absolutely transformational having her in my life, but also just like being invited to this conference that we honestly had no business being in what we thought at the time. But honestly, it was like the most pivotal weekend of our lives with tallow twins of our lives with our experience with tallow twins since founding the brand.
And, uh, it was just so good. It [01:01:00] just made us feel like, oh my gosh, like we're literally, we're doing a really big thing and I can't, I always tell people that weekend that's like, oh yeah, we're just like really young brand. We're just baby business. You know, we're just, my sister and I and my friend Maddie came up to me and she's like, Madison, you need to like cut the shit.
You got to stop saying that, you know, cause you guys are having a really incredible thing going on. You have a great brand, you got a great story, you guys are doing really awesome things and you need to own it because it's not if you guys are going to be successful, it's when, and like, I literally tear up all the time talking about it and I literally need to wrap it up or I'll cry because like gratitude tears are literally flowing all the time lately.
Um, so yeah, that was huge. And then obviously that weekend transpired in so many ways. Uh, Alexa Kilroy put us in connection with Dean from Heart and Soil, and then Megan was out at the bar, met Cole, Cole introduced us to you guys, and that's literally why we're here right now. So it's, it's been [01:02:00] full circle, like one night of Megan going absolutely ludicrous and feral in Austin, riding bulls, making connections, drinking 17 beers, drinking 17 beers.
Probably more than tequila sodas is her thing as well. It's actually one of the yeah It's like one of the best like liquors you can drink apparently Did you and Cole arm wrestle? I want to see it Need to see it actually Anyways, but yeah, so that was incredible and that's yeah literally why we're here right now So it was a full circle moment.
We made so many connections through which is like reason 79 of why I need to move here. I see that happening for you. I feel it. I think I'm just not going back. It's crazy. The ripples of just saying yes to one thing, like and then connecting the dots, looking backwards, and then how many more amazing things you'll say yes to.
And I would imagine that that event was probably impactful because I think a lot of times the hardest part is just putting yourself in [01:03:00] the room with a lot of these other like female founders and realizing, We're just as good as any of these other founders and everyone starts somewhere and I understand I know that feeling of like almost the tip being timid when you say the name of your brand or what you're doing when it's like from an outsider's perspective it's like you guys are revolutionary revolutionizing skincare and you're in positively impacting babies and children like what's a better mission than that and like walking around with that confidence to it's extremely fulfilling yes like a hundred percent like you wake up and it's like yeah my cup is full today you Megan and I will literally look at our phone and it's so cute and so special.
It's like, we get one order for like one product and we look at each other. We're like, Oh, we got one, we got a live one, fish on, fish on. And we're so stoked about it makes us so happy every single order. And it's not just like, Oh yeah, money in the bank. Like we're doing things. It's like, we're literally giving our souls to these people and all the things that we're doing and we're making with our passions.
And it's like, [01:04:00] Like, the amount of tears that I have shed, I'm holding it together so well right now. Honestly, I'm so proud of myself right now. Meg, you're definitely not a crier, right? Only when she's really angry, which is weird. Like, I'm not an emotional crier, but I'm like, if you tick me off, I will sit there and bawl my eyes out, because I just don't know what else to do.
It's really weird, I'm like, what's happening? So the guy at the market, did he get a tear? That's just like, it's not necessarily a favorite memory, but it's just like one that's just like, Sticking with me and I'm like, that guy, can you say something? Can we say like a happy memory? I'm going to double down.
I'm going to say this is what this will now go down in the books, like being here right now in this moment, that one's, that one's going to be like top of the list. I'm going to write it down, journal that one. Um, but if I were to like, look back sitting right now into the past, my favorite memory, gosh, there's so many.
Oh, thank, I, I was worried there for a sec. So I'm really glad that there are some in the hopper. Honestly, when I, when [01:05:00] I pushed up the bottom of the chapstick tube, when I made that first batch of mint chip, and I put that to my lips and I said, Mmm. That's a great lip balm. Good golly. Tastes like a million bucks.
I'm doing something right now. Wow, that tastes like us scaling our brand. Yeah. Until the cows come home. Is that, is that money? Tastes like money. I know, but it's so much more than that. You guys know that? No. There's not a better feeling than actually being able to like, hold your product and have the confidence of, this isn't me being biased, this is genuinely a product that's great, that's gonna make other, cause like you're saying, when the Shopify ding goes off.
You're not pumped just because you're And the sound is so catchy. It's a really cash register little moment. Shout out to Shopify. But every time that goes off, you're making people healthier. Which is such a cool feeling. Um, what's the best way for people to connect with you both? Instagram, Twitter now.
Shout out to Burger Meat Mafia for hooking that up. X, sorry, Elon Musk. Shout out to Elon Musk. Um, we could get [01:06:00] Teletwins. Honestly, let's do it. I just saw something of him talking about like eating more animal base. He's not fully carnivore. I think it was like, um, Jordan Peterson. Jordan Peterson was getting him on it.
That was such an interesting conversation between those two. Yeah. I was so engaged. I think Jordan Peterson was pretty bad in that conversation. Compared to usual. Like it was stimulating, but he was very angry. He was, he was getting defensive. And he wasn't letting Elon talk that much. He was almost like ranting at Elon.
And he's like, no, but you need to try it. My wife did it. And it was, it was so awesome. That took well. Yeah. But you think about his cognitive function and the output looking the way that he looks and imagine if he cleans up his diet, the way he's already operating. Oh my gosh. We'll be on Mars. Those, uh, Elon Musk cars, I don't even know, what are they called?
The trucks? The Cybertrucks. The Cybertrucks are gonna be friggin floating around Austin soon. Seriously. She's been pointing them left, uh, like, left, right, and center here. She's like, oh my god, look, another one of those Elon Musk trucks. I literally call them Elon Musk trucks, I'm such a girl. Yeah. Anyway.
Do you guys have any type of promos or discounts or anything for the audience, [01:07:00] too? We're trying to pump out as much value as possible. It's literally what we're trying to do with Tallow Twins. So whether you're learning things more about your skincare, tallow, or just literally random fun hacks, like I'll probably just litter your Instagram with my gelatin gummies and why you need to be eating gelatin every day.
Gelatin is literally God's Botox, ladies. Just saying. And if I could recommend anybody downloading an app on their phone, it would be YUCA. YUCA, you can skin any barcode on any skincare product in any generic store. And it'll give you the list of skin irritants or carcinogenics on, like, in said product.
And it'll give it, like, a score on, like, 0 to 100. 100 being a good, clean product that you should be using. 0 being absolutely god awful. Tau Twins would be, [01:08:00] like, 169, probably. Oh, it would, it would blow the scale right out of the water. Yeah. Just break it. Like, your phone would blow up. Your phone would literally, like, implode in your hands.
Yeah. That's how good Tau Twins is. But you definitely, if you are somebody that is looking to, like, Switch to like clean shampoos, clean anything, like perfumes, whatever, whatever you want to try making baby steps towards starting with that app makes it so much easier and like takes away that, Oh, I'm reading this ingredient list and I have no idea what anything is on it.
Just, just scan the barcode and it does it for you. I'm like, I'm not trying to boost their tires, but it's honestly such a great app. And like, it was one of the first things that I downloaded when we started, like she bought actually, so she put me on being like more, Again, 24 beers every weekend. And I'm like, Megan, get your activated charcoal.
Yuko was a way for me to step into that. And I stepped into her reclaiming her birthright to radical health. And she's over here doing it. And like, now she's taking heart and soil supplements. I'm like, Megan, I'm so proud of you. I'm so she's come [01:09:00] such a long, long way until she takes noble. Oh my, yeah, hey, I placed an order guys.
I had it this morning in my smoothie from Sun Life. That's right. Oh my god, so yum, so yum. I like it. Well, I'm also somebody who has like a very sensitive stomach when it comes to supplements and like proteins and whatnot, colostrum. Yeah, colostrum kills my stomach. Collagen. Collagen. Sorry. Um, But yeah, my stomach felt fine after drinking it.
So that's a huge win for me because some proteins will literally like cripple me over in pain. Wow. And like huge. It's just But yeah, so noble shout out you guys like that's totally why we made it is that it wouldn't be gut disrupting So that's great that you enjoyed the goat. She got the goat. I got a good combo The 1 million 1 million.
It's a million million something. Yeah, I just saw a million I said

Literally Megan's now top Core memory for our experience with towel twins year and a half down the road The competition was not all that tough.
